It’s Not Easy Bee-ing Green (Tea)!
Sip sustainably with our new serendipiTea green tea collection — proof that being green never tasted so good!
When Our Customers Asked for Something Green…
Something bee-u-t-full happened.
At Backyard Bees, we’ve always taken “bee-ing green” seriously — from the hives we tend to the sustainable way we package our products. But recently, our customers started asking for another kind of green.
They said, “We love your honey and herbal teas, but what about green tea? Isn’t it healthier than black tea?”
So, by popular demand — and a little serendipity — we partnered with serendipiTea, a fellow green business that’s as committed to sustainability as we are.
SerendipiTea isn’t just another tea company — they’re environmentally and socially responsible, sourcing from organic farms and using biodegradable, post-consumer recycled packaging printed with water-based inks. Every blend is handcrafted by people (not machines!) just a few miles from our hives.
Their values perfectly mirror those of the Queen Bee of Backyard Bees — caring for the Earth, supporting ethical practices, and creating something truly delicious in the process.
It’s not easy bee-ing green… and it’s even harder finding another company that does it too! That’s why we’re so proud to collaborate with SerendipiTea, our locally grown partner in sustainability.

It started with a simple request for green tea… and brewed into a beautiful partnership.
A Little Health Buzz
Before I was tending hives and stirring honey, I worked as a registered dietitian, so I can’t resist a good nutrition chat. Green tea is a wonderful choice for anyone looking to make a small, healthful swap.
Because the leaves are steamed or pan-fired soon after harvest, green tea retains more of its natural antioxidants — especially catechins like EGCG, which are being studied for heart, brain, and immune support.
It also has less caffeine than coffee or black tea, making it a calm, focused kind of energy — perfect for mindful mornings or afternoon pick-me-ups that don’t leave you jittery.
And yes, all that wellness talk tastes even better with a little honey. 🍯
Less caffeine, more calm – green tea is perfect for focused energy
Meet The Green Teas

Three Part Poetry
Organic Jasmine, Orange Peel & Pouchong
Elegant, floral, and perfectly named — this tea is pure poetry in a cup. Pouchong, a lightly oxidized cousin of green tea, brings a silky, almost creamy mouthfeel. When paired with jasmine blossoms and a hint of orange peel, it becomes delicate, aromatic, and dreamily fragrant.
Bee Tip: Pair with raw honey to highlight the floral tones and elevate your quiet tea moments.

Remember Rosemary
Organic Gunpowder Green Tea, Orange Peel, Lemon Myrtle, and Rosemary
This bold blend starts with gunpowder green tea, named for the way each leaf is hand-rolled into tiny pearls that unfurl as they steep, releasing a smooth, smoky flavor. Rosemary adds an herbal brightness that wakes up your senses — and it’s more than just delicious.
Early studies suggest that rosemary may help improve memory speed in older adults, and researchers are exploring its potential role in supporting cognitive health and Alzheimer’s treatment.
Bee Tip: Add a drizzle of wildflower honey to round out the herbal and citrus notes.

Poached Pear
Organic China Green Tea, Pear, Clove, Nutmeg, Golden Raisins
If tea could feel like a hug, this would be it. China green tea provides a mellow, gentle base, while pear, nutmeg, and clove add warm, fruit-forward depth. The result is smooth, cozy, and naturally sweet — like the scent of poached fruit on the stove.
Bee Tip: Try it iced! Stir in Backyard Bees honey and garnish with a slice of fresh pear for a light, orchard-style treat.
Bee-ing Green Never Tasted So Good
So, was it easy bee-ing green? Not exactly. It took a little tasting, testing, and tea-spiration to find the perfect trio. But one sip in, and we knew we’d found something special.
Whether you’re drawn to green tea for its antioxidants, gentle lift, or just the cozy ritual of sipping it with honey, we think you’ll agree — it’s not easy bee-ing green. but it sure is delicious!. 💚🐝
Green Tea FAQs – From the Queen Bee
What’s the difference between green tea and black tea?
Both come from the same plant — Camellia sinensis — but the difference is in how they’re processed. Green tea is steamed or pan-fired soon after picking, which helps preserve its green color and antioxidant content. Black tea is fully oxidized, giving it a deeper color and bolder flavor.
Does green tea have caffeine?
Yes, but much less than coffee or black tea. On average, a cup of green tea has about 25–35 mg of caffeine, compared to 90–100 mg in coffee. It gives you a gentle lift — the kind that lets you focus, not fidget.
Are there health benefits to drinking green tea?
Yes! Green tea is rich in antioxidants, especially catechins like EGCG, which are being studied for heart, brain, and immune support. It’s also naturally hydrating and pairs beautifully with honey for a sweet, soothing ritual.
What’s the best sweetener for green tea?
You guessed it — honey! A little goes a long way to round out the grassy or herbal notes in green tea. For Remember Rosemary, try wildflower honey; for Three Part Poetry, floral honey like clover or orange blossom; for Poached Pear, a classic raw honey complements it beautifully.
How long do I steep my green tea?
2–3 minutes is ideal. If steeped too long, green tea can turn a bit bitter. Use water just under boiling (around 175°F) and let it cool slightly before pouring.
Will green tea help me relax?
Absolutely. It contains a natural compound called L-theanine, which can promote calm alertness — the same soothing focus you get from a quiet moment with a cup and a spoonful of honey.
